Money
Currency: The Danish currency is the Krone (Dkk), divided into 100 øre. Notes are in denominations of Dkk1000, 500, 200, 100 and 50. Coins are in denominations of Dkk20, 10, 5, 2 and 1, and 50 and 25 øre.
Currency exchange: Most banks will exchange currency during normal banking hours; bureaux de change continue service outside these times. Rates may vary considerably. Exchange bureaux in the city include Forex, Nørre Voldgade 90 (tel: 33 11 25 00), and The Change Group (tel: 33 93 04 55), with six outlets in the centre, all of which are open 0900-2200 Monday to Saturday and until 2100 on Sunday.
There are also 24-hour automated exchange machines at: Arbejdernes Landsbank, Vesterbrogade 5; Den Danske Bank, Central Station; Jyske Bank, Vesterbrogade 9 and three branches of Unibank at Axelborg Plads, Vimmelskaftet 35 and Rådhuspladsen.
Travellers cheques: Euro and travellers cheques can be exchanged at banks in the city (average commission charge is 2% . Shops accept Dkk Eurocheques and may also accept travellers cheques in other currencies.
Banks: These are open 0930-1600/1700 Monday to Friday and until 1800 on Thursday.
Credit and debit cards: International cards are accepted in large shops and most restaurants and hotels. ATMs at major banks in the city accept international credit and debit cards.
The Euro: Denmark has not yet signed up to the single European currency.
